November 15, 2017 (HOUSTON) - In October, six Thunder Series pumps arrived in Kuwait, thanks to a partnership between Gardner Denver and National Petroleum Services Company (NAPESCO). Recognized as the premier well-servicing company in Kuwait, NAPESCO is expanding into the fracking market and chose Gardner Denver’s Thunder Series for their fleet. “We wanted the best, most cutting edge pump on the market,” said Aiman Al-Khabbaz, GM of NAPESCO. “We did our homework and knew that Gardner Denver’s legacy of service and innovation would help us expand our footprint and provide excellent products and services to our customers.” As the first Kuwaiti-owned company fracking in Kuwait, NAPESCO is poised for greatness.
The Thunder Series of well service pumps offers NAPESCO and other operators increased horsepower and rod-load with longer life and service intervals that are aligned with those of the engine and transmission. A major advantage to this new lineup is the longer 11-inch stroke (versus the typical 8-inch). The additional 3 inches provides 37 percent more flow per cylinder, per rotation of the pump. This reduces the pump speed required to achieve the same flow and pressure output of conventional shorter-stroke pumps. That means these pumps accumulate fewer cycles over time which decreases the overall wear and tear. The result is longer time between scheduled maintenance intervals and a reduced rate of consumable part use, lessening the total cost of ownership and significantly reducing downtime.
Gardner Denver’s Vice President/GM of the Petroleum Pumps division, Larry Kerr, announced the sale of these pumps in November 2016 and is looking forward to celebrating the fleet’s deployment with NAPESCO, Stewart & Stevenson and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) during an Event Nov. 21 at KOC. * “This will be the first Thunder fleet in the Middle East and based on incredible field tests in North America, we have every confidence the Thunder will perform beyond expectations.”
“Gardner Denver was the missing piece in our pumping services puzzle,” said Al-Khabbaz. “We closely monitored all of the Thunder Pumps’ field trials and felt strongly that this was the right pump for fracking applications based in Kuwait.”
From the point of the sale, to the fleet’s introduction to the Middle East market, 12 months will have passed. During this time, both Gardner Denver and NAPESCO have readied their teams for deployment. NAPESCO secured Houston-based, Stewart & Stevenson to build the trailers and data van and Gardner Denver was at the ready to provide hands-on training for the NAPESCO and S&S Teams during the tests in Houston. “No corners were cut ensuring NAPESCO will be successful in its deployment of the Thunder frac pumps,” said Riaz Jumabhoy, Regional Director, MENA, Gardner Denver. “We’ll be with them every step of the way, from training, to engineering support, to our parts on demand program and field services teams--our Experience 360 service and support commitment will cover these pumps from flange to flange.”
